Roger has 30 years experience as a lawyer, mainly in Wellington.  He is currently the Chief Legal Counsel at Capital & Coast District Health Board.  He has previously worked in his own law firm for 12 years, mainly acting for public sector clients in a range of roles.  He was previously Chief Legal Counsel for a large government department, and has worked as a commercial lawyer for a national law firm.  He has a wide range of practical public sector and commercial law knowledge, including from having provided advice on governance issues for Crown entities and commercial organisations.

Roger is also the Chair of Carers NZ, and an advisor to the Carers Alliance, a collaboration of 47 national health and disability sector NGOs focussed on the challenges faced by (mostly) unpaid family carers.   He has a valuable insight into the issues confronting the delivery of health and disability services by not for profit organisations.

Roger is a very proud Wellingtonian, and has loved the opportunity to grow up here himself and to raise his own family in Wellington with his wife Linda.  Roger believes it is a privilege to live in Wellington.  Being a part of the Wellington Community Trust is an opportunity to use his skills and experience to help empower amazing community groups to meet the diverse needs of people in Wellington and the region.
