Kate Hiatt, Community Engagement and Funding ManagerKate has held positions in local government, tertiary education and the health and community sectors. She joined the Wellington Community Trust in 2013 as the Funding Advisor.

After a stint of nursing which she decided wasn’t quite her cup of tea, Kate travelled for a couple of years before moving back home to Melbourne. She completed her BA at Melbourne Uni where she later became the Arts Officer. Prior to this she was the Leisure/Arts Officer at Fitzroy City Council. She fed her on-going passion for performing arts – devising, directing and performing as one of the many Melbourne fringe theatre dwellers in the 1980s.

Kate also has a Diploma of Horticulture and worked for a Heritage Garden consultancy firm as a researcher before moving to Auckland with her family 8 years ago. There she completed her Master of Arts Management (AUT) whilst working in the Department of Performing & Screen Arts and Research Office at Unitec.

Kate moved to Wellington in March 2013 and quickly discovered that it is simply quite fabulous. She has been on several committees, was a Board member at her children’s schools and the Convenor of their  environment committee. Her volunteer work has recently included working for Refugee Services in the re-settlement programme with 2 wonderful families from Myanmar.
