Dawn SandersDawn has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, especially the performing arts where she has led a wide range of projects.

Dawn was appointed to Wellington Community Trust (WCT) in 2009 and reappointed in 2013 for a second term.

She is currently CEO of the Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand which she founded in 1991, and manages its annual festivals and many other activities. Dawn is also an author and has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector as an event, marketing and sponsorship manager.

She has held administrative and tutorial roles at the New Zealand School of Dance and still lectures at Whitireia Performance Centre in Anatomy and Nutrition. She serves on other trusts including the Shakespeare’s Globe Council in London. She was also Project Manager of the Globe Hangings Project.

Dawn was honoured to have received a QSM in 2002 and, in 2013, an ONZM, and the Paul Harris Fellow Sapphire Pin from the Rotary Club of Port Nicholson.

Originally from Blenheim she moved to Wellington as a teenager for dance training and became a dancer, rising to Principal in the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and in London. Her interests include live pan-arts performances, swimming, gardening and reading. An avid Wellingtonian, Dawn is pleased to be able to contribute to its rich fabric through being a trustee of the Wellington Community Trust.
