The Supreme winner, the 5 category winners and the Rising Star Award for the Wellington region for 2016 have been announced.

Wellington Community Trust provided awards totalling $43,500. Further awards were provided by Wellington Airport.

Cuba Dupa (Creative Capital Arts Trust)

CubaDupa is Wellington’s vibrant street festival revering the epic creative spirit of Cuba Street and the Wellington community. Over the weekend of 19th and 20th March 2016, Wellington’s most iconic street is transformed to a magical interactive playground of delight, sound and taste.

CubaDupa brings all walks of life together in an immersive experience to ‘get on up’ during the day or ‘get on down’ in the evening – restaurants will spill into the streets to create a culinary cacophony; people will flow through the streets and laneways, exploring the myriad of spaces filled with activity, music, dance, circus, theatre, and installation.

Upper Hutt Community Rescue is the only private and fully independent registered response team in New Zealand. Its team of volunteers provides a trained rescue and first aid response capability to the Upper Hutt and greater Wellington region.
